Many at times when I hear my friends and they are like “laptop is so weak that it can’t even transfer files like phone wirelessly” that it uses only flash drives, DVDs, et cetera only to transfer files, I decided to write this article to explain in detail and with pictures how to turn your Laptop’s WiFi hotspot on and transfer files with it (ie between two computers on between a computer and a phone with ease and hope that it meets people who needs it.
Yes I might agree Laptop is weak but to disagree cause its taken as security procedure. I mean anyone literally could connect to you phones network WiFi if he/she really wants to. So I need you to follow this detailed instruction.
Methods Of File Transfer Wirelessly With Laptop
We have to main methods of transferring files wirelessly with laptop which are;

1. With WiFi Hotspot:
Steps to turn on Laptop’s Hotspot
WiFi Hotspot transfer medium can be categorised in the main ways which are;
>>The Automatic Method And
>>Manual Method.
>> Using Applications Method;
The Automattic Method is what I call it because these are with the use of applications like connectivity-me or baidu WiFi et cetera to creat your computers WiFi hotspot.
So if you want the easy way, let me just refer you to the three best ones but automatic WiFi hotspots are not considered safe sometimes due to the fact that it’s an external application which shares its information with the programmer of the application. There are free and paid ones, they are;
Once you download and install any one of these applications you can start using them as it is very easy to set up.
>> Using Command Prompt Method;
Manual Method is simply creating WiFi hotspot with your Laptop without making use of any external application at all. I will guide you step by step on how to do this just follow the instructions carefully.
Steps In Turning Your Laptop Into A WiFi Hotspot Using Command Prompt
First lets cross check somethings, do you have a working network card, can you turn your WiFi on and off easily and is all the keys in your keyboard functioning fine although you won’t use all of them? If all are fine then proceed;
> Step 1: Opening the command prompt in administrator mode.
- Go to your start menu and type cmd (click the image to zoom in).
- Right click on it and select administrator, click yes and enter user password if necessary. Click Image To Maximize.
> Step 2: Setting the WiFi hotspot for the first time.
Follow the procedures below to do this;
- netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=”allow” and hit enter.
- netsh wlan set hostednetwork ssid=”the name you want”
- netsh wlan set hostednetwork key=”the password or pass code you choose” and hit enter.

Note: This set up is not required every time you want to use your laptop’s WiFi hotspot.
> Step 3: Starting the WiFi hotspot.
- Type “netsh wlan start hostednetwork” and remember that the hostednetwork is together. I didn’t mention it earlier so I am mentioning it now.

Type “netsh wlan stop hostednetwork” and hit enter.
