Wonderkid Camavinga determined to complete big-money summer move to Madrid (AS)

Rennes wonderkid Eduardo Camavinga is determined to push through a big-money summer move to Real Madrid, according to reports in Spain.

The 17-year-old has been heavily linked with leaving the Ligue 1 side, with Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain also linked with making an offer along with Madrid.

But according to Spanish outler Diario AS, the France U21 international is only interested in a move to Madrid, with Zinedine Zidane a key factor in his preference.

Zidane is an admirer of his French compatriot, but his summer transfer budget is increasingly likely be reduced due to the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

The news comes after the same outlet reported earlier this month that manager Julien Stephan is confident of retaining Camavinga, while owner Francois Pinault is also ‘dedicated’ to holding on to the youngster.

But if Rennes opt to sell in the coming months, they will reportedly not lower their asking price, with Camavinga under contract at Roazhon Park until 2022.

PSG are allegedly in a position to meet that fee, whereas Zidane would need to sell squad players to fund a sustained push for Camavinga.

Madrid have been linked with selling full-backs Alvaro Odriozola and Sergio Reguilon as well as Colombian midfielder James Rodriguez as part of a squad overhaul.

Camavinga operates as a defensive midfielder and has enjoyed a successful season with Rennes, who qualified for the Champions League after Ligue 1 was cancelled at the end of April.

Despite his young age, he has made 36 appearances with one goal and two assists.
