Why You Should Be Wary of Exercises Claiming to Increase Penis Size

Some of the sites advertise penis stretches that reportedly enhance the length and hardness of the penis. Others suggest vacuum penis pumps which force the penis to swell and fill with blood (a technique used to help treat erection problems). There are even websites that market “fitness accessories” such as penis extenders and hangers which use weights and gravity to stretch your penis to all-new lengths.

In a culture where masculinity is often measured in inches, the desire to have a longer, fuller, and harder penis is something that many men desire, but can it actually be achieved?

The simple answer is no, but it doesn’t stop there. A number of enhancement techniques can, in fact, cause changes to a penis but typically not the ones a man wants.

Why Products and Exercises Don’t Work

Because the penis can enlarge and get hard, there are some who believe it to be a muscle that can be pumped up like a bicep. And the more you pump, the bigger it will get.

This might be reasonable if the penis were a muscle, but, unfortunately, it is not. Anatomically speaking, the human penis is made up of three columns of tissue: two columns of erectile tissue (known as the corpora cavernosa) and another column of spongy tissue (called the corpus spongiosum) which keeps the urethra open whenever the penis is erect.

The corpora cavernosa is filled with a mass of tiny vessels that fill with blood during an erection. It is in this engorged state that the penis gets both harder and longer. There are no muscles involved other than the external sphincter muscle at the root of the penis which aids ejaculation and can be voluntarily used to control the flow of urine.

Because there are no muscles involved, there are no exercises able to build either the penis’ girth or length.

Exercises and Products That Can Hurt the Penis

There are men who will go to great lengths to enhance the size of their penis. Some will turn to vacuum pumps which can, in fact, cause significant changes to the penis after extensive, daily use (usually after a year or more). However, while the girth may be much thicker, the changes are not so much the result of tissue growth but tissue damage.

When used excessively or inappropriately, a vacuum pump will cause tiny blood vessels in the penis to swell and burst. This can lead to bleeding from the urethra, bruising, and the visible rupture of surface blood vessels.

Over time, the practice will result in layer upon layer of scarring (known as fibrosis). And, while the resulting thickness may be impressive, the texture will be more spongy than hard. Even after pumping, the man may not be able to maintain an erection or be able to perform sexually since the malleable texture of skin tends to interfere with intercourse rather than enhance it.

And, ultimately, the one thing it will not increase is the length.

Other men have taken to more invasive techniques such as silicone injections, which can form uneven and unsightly lumps, while others have undergone surgery to cut the suspensory ligament which attaches the penis to the pelvic bone.1

While the latter operation will release the penis from its girdle and extend it in its flaccid state, the penis will often retract toward the pelvis when erect and become smaller. Moreover, a penis which once pointed upward during an erection may suddenly hang downward or to the side after the operation.

Why You Should Celebrate What You Were Born With

The facts are simple: once you’ve gone through adolescence and puberty, the penis length you have will be the penis length you have. If you feel robbed because you think you’re too small, what you need is not surgery but likely an attitude adjustment.

Most men simply have the wrong conception about how long the average penis is, assuming it to be 6 inches or more. In fact, research published in the July 2013 issue of the Journal of Sexual Medicinereported that 5.6 inches were the average among 1,661 American men and that most female and male partners were perfectly happy with that.2

Rather than worrying about whether size matters focus on improving sexual performance by promoting good health habits, including exercise, weight loss, and the avoidance of alcohol and cigarettes. These will enhance your confidence and sex life more than any penis hanger can.

Just like the female breast size, the male penis size is a natural endowment that can’t be reduced nor enhanced.
One should be wary of such claims indeed.
