How some artiste stated their story

Today, we’ll take a tour on how some of Nigeria’s popular musical artists began their musical dreams.

1.2Face

Innocent Ujah Idibia popularly known as 2face/2baba is a native or Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria. He was born on the 18th of September, 1975 making him 44 years old.

He actually dropped out to pursue his musical career. He started composing and singing jingles while attending IMT, at the GB fan club at Enugu State Broadcasting Service (ESBS) in 1996. He also adapted his stage name “2face” that same year.

He moved to Lagos and started performing with a rapper named Blackface Naija, he had met Blackface while attending IMT.

2face later formed a trio band which he named Plantashun Boyz with Blackface(Ahmadu Augustine Obiabo) and with musician Faze(Chibuzor Oji).

They did release two successful albums: Body and Soul in 2000 & Sold out in 2003, under Dove Records owned by Nelson Brown. Later, the band broke up and started their solo careers. Long after the break up known as the “Faze Vs Tuface” beef, the band came back together in 2007 for their third and final album titled Plan B.

2. Davido

David Adedeji Adeleke better known as Davido, is an American born Nigerian singer, songwriter and record producer. He was born on the 21st of November, 1992, making him 28 years old.

He studied st British International School, Lagos, further and studied business administration at Oakwood University before dropping out to make beats and record vocal references.

In 2012, Davido rose to stardom after releasing the second single”Dami Duro” from his debut album Omo Baba Olowo. Davido won the next rated award at the Headies between 2013 and 2015. He released the hit singles “Gobe”, “One of a kind”, skelewu, Aye, Tchelete(Good life), Naughty, owo ni koko, The money.

In 2016, He signed a record label with Sony music, then few months later, he formed his record label which he named Davido Music Worldwide(DMW), which consists of great artists like Peruzzi, Yonda, Dremo and many others.

3. Joeboy

Joseph Akinfewa Donuts popularly known as Joeboy, is one of Nigeria’s finest, fast growing singer, song writer and recording artist. He was born on the 21st of May, 1997 in Lagos state, Nigeria.

After, completing his primary and secondary, he studied at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), where he graduated with a Bachelor degree in Human Resource Management. He actually grew up in a christian family, his Older brother was part of the church choir while his Dad played the keyboard. He claimed he was inspired by 9ice and ID Cabasa. He started his music career at the age of 16 and recorded his first song “Gbeseyin” an afro beat tune at the age of 17 years old.

Later, he released Ed Sheeran “Shape of you” cover which was well received both in Nigeria and across the world. The song also brought him to limelight which made Mr Eazi discover him and decide to offer him a provisional mentorship. Joeboy is currently toping the list of Nigerians most talented young artists with amazing vocals and a stylish musical performance and attitude.

4.Olamide

Olamide Adedeji popularly known as Olamide Badoo or better still Badoo Sneh is Nigeria musician who mist times sings in the Yoruba language. He was born on the 13th of March 1989. He actually studied at Tai Solarin University Of Education.

In the year 2000, he decided to pursue his musical career. anytime he was asked why music? He’ll say “I found out I was gifted in it is I had to explore it.It is my life, my hustle, my world”. Pretty confident right??

Later, in 2010 ‘Eni Duro’ was first released under the coded tunes record label, which he was signed unto at that very time. Eni Duro received nationwide critical acclaim and instantly shot Badoo to the limelight. He was signed to ID Cabasa’s Coded Tunes record label and was managed by Toni Payne. In 2012, he left coded Tunes and interestingly started his own record label YBNL Nation which is one the biggest record labels in Nigeria.

In conclusion, I think it has been proven by these examples that, talent, passion, hard work and consistency are powerful tools to make yourself the successful person you desire to become someday..
